The Kendall County Democratic Women (KCDW) presented a donation to the Kendall County Food Pantry’s Executive Director, Maria Spaeth, on May 21. The funds were raised from events that the Democratic Women sponsored this year.
The Kendall County Food Pantry doesn’t receive funds from any government entity. It is solely supported by public donations of food, clothing, and money. The great thing about giving money to the Food Pantry is that they can purchase $6 worth of food for every dollar collected. The $566 that the Democratic Women contributed will stretch to $3,396.
The Food Pantry’s need is steadily increasing. “Each month the number of people served is up by at least 50” Spaeth stated. “The need is greater that ever. Unfortunately, the economy has slowed contributions significantly.”
Items that the Food Pantry is in greatest need of is summer clothing, baby items, plus size clothing, pet food, and money (every $1 buys $6 of food).
The food pantry is located at 1204A Deer Street, Yorkville IL 60560 (off of Rt. 26 behind Martin Plumbing). There are many collecting sites in the county. We encourage all to give generously if you are able. For more information visit www.kendallcountyfoodpantry.org or contact the Food Pantry at 630-553-0473.
