The Kendall County Democratic Women hosted a Wildflower Walk to benefit the Kendall County Food Pantry on Saturday, May 2nd at the Richard Young Forest Preserve, in Yorkville. The group enjoyed wonderful weather and company. Mrs. Jean Birch led the walk and identified many native wildflowers and plants, as well as non-native invasive plants. Jean has a great interest in preserving local natural areas, and was among those who worked alongside forest preserve name sake and environmentalist Richard “Dick” Young to build paths, clear brush, and construct bridges in the adjacent Lyon Forest Preserve, where the group also hiked.
