The Kendall County Democratic Women hosted a well attended complimentary meet and greet wine and cheese event on Thursday, April 16, at the Imagine on Main shop, 56 Main Street, in Oswego. This was the first of a series of events to introduce the community to local businesses and support local charitable organizations while mixing with old and new friends. Shop local! It brings more funds to the local community than shopping big-box stores.
The Imagine on Main shop is owned and operated by local Amy Irwin. The shop offers an eclectic mix of unique home and personal decor items that are also perfect for gift-giving. Featured are works by local artisans specializing in jewelry, glass, pottery, wood, photography, watercolor, pastel, oil, and mixed media. For more information about the shop visit www.imagineonmain.com.
Mary Ensor, Director of Development for Hesed House in Aurora, told guests about the many programs they offer to help the poor and homeless (including families with children) in the Fox Valley area get back on their feet. Hesed House, Inc., a non-profit organization, serves southern Kane County and all of Kendall County, and is Kendall County’s only shelter. For more information about Hesed House visit www.hesedhouse.org.
Phil Siedlecki told guests about Oswego’s Environmentally Conscious Oswego (ECO) Commission. The purpose of the ECO Commission is to protect and improve today’s environment for the future. For more information about the ECO Commission visit www.oswegoil.org/village-government/eco-commission.
Cash donations were accepted at the event and all proceeds will be donated to the Kendall County Food Pantry in Yorkville (www.kendallcountyfoodpantry.org), which has seen a great increase in local need.
